Product Description:
Clearspring In Kyushu, Japan, nori sea vegetables is grown and processed using conventional techniques. Nori is a type of sea vegetable that is widely grown in Japan and other East Asian nations, while other forms, including hijiki, arame, and dulse, are taken from the wild using sustainable methods.
Although it was originally collected from the wild, nori has been grown for more than 300 years in Japan. Each year, long bamboo poles are buried deep into the quiet, shallow bays, and are hung between them with nets composed of braided rope saturated with nori spores. Each net is carefully positioned such that its height is such that it is both above the water during low tide, providing the nori with the maximum amount of sunshine, and below the water during high tide, providing the plants with regular washing.
The fragile nori plants will expand throughout the colder months until they completely cover the net. They are gathered in the late winter and hauled onshore where they are dried, cleansed, and cut into thin sheets. The Nori can be gently toasted to create translucent, lighter-green, crispy sheets with a delectable nutty flavor, which is evidence of its superior quality.
